On June 11th 2015, it took place in the Anfiteatro of the Department of Preventive Medicine, Faculty of Medicine, University of São Paulo, the first Latin America Treatment and Innovation Network in Mental Health Symposium, which brought together mental health researchers to discuss the theme "Integrating Mental Health into general health care”.
The symposium was divided into two periods, in the morning we had presentations and discussion with the participation of Professors Ricardo Araya, from the Centre of Global Mental Health London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine; Jaime Miranda, from the Center of Excellence en Enfermedades Cronicas of the Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia; and Paulo Menezes, from the Department of Preventive Medicine, University of São Paulo. We also count with the participation of Dr. LeShawndra Price, chief researcher of the National Institute of Mental Health, USA.
In the afternoon, the participants could choose between two workshops: "RCT designs and methodological issues in Global Mental Health", taught by professors Ricardo Araya and Paulo Menezes; and "Mobile Technological Intervention in Global Mental Health", taught by Mark Begale and Marya Corden, from the Center for Behavioral Intervention Technologies (CBITs), Northwestern University and Juliet Quayle, Latin-MH project coordinator.
